Capstan Group Services secured the Fire Safety Project at the Park View Community School, located in the London Borough of Haringey. The works consisted of penetration sealing, fire door replacements and fire door maintenance and were originally programmed to be completed in the summer holidays. However, due to a late instruction from the client and the lead times for the new doors to be manufactured, this was altered to allow works in both the summer holidays and autumn half-term.
As per the clients requirements, all operatives held current DBS checks. This was essential as the school was occupied during the holidays with summer clubs and private hires.
Good housekeeping was maintained at all times with careful consideration towards the fire exit routes and segregating the work area to ensure all occupants were safe during our time on site.
One of several challenges faced during the works was reusing the existing key fob entry systems as requested by the school. We had to source the relevant data sheets to ensure their compatibility with the new fire doors and we had to be careful when removing them as some of the components had become obsolete.
On top of this, some of the penetration sealing works were in difficultto reach places within plant rooms which proved tricky to navigate .
