KEY ELEMENTS OF WORK

  • Passive Fire Protection

  • Design & Build

  • M&E

  • Ventilation

Scope of Works: Design & Build project to deliver 1000m² of welfare facilities to support over 800nr. Site operatives.

The project included the installation of 1-hour fire-rated partitions with compliant steel beam protection; and full M&E services installed for the welfare including

  • Hand Basins

  • Toilets

  • Hot Kitchen; Forced air input and extraction systems giving the necessary air changes,

  • Fire suppressant system including roller shutter to the Hot Kitchen Café

  • WC cubicles

  • First Aid Room

  • Drying Room

  • Subcontractors Office with data points to accommodate 20 Companies

  • Fire alarm system to be integrated into existing systems.

New compliant fire doors were required to compartmentalise the welfare and surrounding staircases and subcontractors’ offices, first aid room and assorted storerooms. As the floor had an uneven concrete finish we had to install drop-down seals to counteract the various levels.

This job was assessed as part of our FIRAS accreditation assessment for our qualified carpenters which we passed and certified. We were later awarded the installation of 80nr. assorted fire doors fitted on the main building as part of the ACOP insurance scheme which requires the main contractor (Skanska) to compartmentalise the staircases of the 22-storey building thus providing containment in the event of a fire.
